許廷瑞 SYU Ting Ruei

那次與 廷瑞 相遇是在台中後火車站旁的20號倉庫，倉庫建築體是早期懷舊紅磚瓦牆砌成，是多數人喜歡的文青風格，從2000年開始有許多年輕藝術家申請於此駐村創作。此時的 廷瑞 正在創作『20號倉庫駐村第12屆的聯展作品』(2012年)。我們短暫寒暄後隨即像是久違的好友，開始從音樂聊到創作，從藝術聊到生活日常，投趣的話題讓人忘時。 2012年 廷瑞 開始發展一系列立體鋼雕作品，特別是摺紙系列的創作源自於童年與母親相處的記憶，摺紙是他兒時最喜歡的小勞作。伴隨著年歲漸增與整個社會環境的迅速改變，激發了他內在的焦慮與反思。人們在大環境的系統中為適應而自我調整，如同變色龍般開始學會掩飾、偽裝，這同時也反應著人們的疏離與偽善，摺紙作品彷彿把單純年少的記憶反摺到不可見的內在。 廷瑞所擅長的鋼性媒材（不鏽鋼或是黑皮鐵上色），因為鋼鈑材料最能表達出如紙材般的銳利線條，透過精準的切割、摺曲、銲接與鏡面加工拋光，讓作品更具摺紙的趣味，特別是不鏽鋼磨亮的作品，因鏡面反射的特性，暗喻作品因反射周邊事物所呈現的多變、詭譎。 廷瑞曾說過：他是靠著一把『呼練打』（グラインダー_ 砂輪機）起家的，在他探索創作的過程中曾創作過一朵朵的『鋼鐵小花』，花朵象徵著一路以來都在身邊支持的家人與朋友，同時也是期許自己在藝術創作這條路能夠如鋼鐵花朵永不凋謝。 現在 廷瑞 也透過自媒體Youtube『超認真少年』頻道，推薦他所熟捻的工業安全與藝術。其實他的藝術創作早已受到許多藏家的喜愛，在都會區大樓建案或是公部門的公共空間都可看見被典藏展出。
That day met Ting-Ruei was in Art Stock 20, which was located beside Taichung train station. The stock was built with historic red bricks which is beloved arty style. There have been many young artists applying for setting residential creation stand since 2000. Meanwhile, Ting-Ruei was preparing art works for the 12th resident artist of Stock 20 exhibition in 2012. After short talk with Ting-Ruei, we are like old friends having a reunion. From music to creation, and from art to daily life; the talk is so interesting that make people forget time. Since 2012, Ting -Ruei is creating a series works of stereoscopic copper engraving. The idea of series works of paper folding came from his childhood memory getting along with his mother. When he was child; paper folding was his favorite thing. However as he is getting old gradually and the society is changing rapidly; the situation inspires his inner anxiety and reflection. People learn to adjust themselves according to the environment is like a chameleon learns to cover up and disguise. It expresses the distance and hypocrisy among people. Paper folding shows the inner memory of pure childhood. The material of the paper folding chameleon is steel (Stainless steel or colored black iron) which Ting-Ruei is used to engraving. Steel plate is the best material to simulate sharp line of paper. Accurate cutting, folding, welding and polishing make the work is like real paper folding. Especially the polished steel works show the feature of reflection; they are also a metaphor that reflecting everything in surrounding is various and treacherous. Ting-Ruei said: He started creating by a ‘Hu Lian Da’. (Grinder). During the period he quested for creating, he has created steel flowers. The flowers are symbol of his family members and friends who supporting him. Also, the flowers are symbol of his expectancy for creating that he can be like a steel flower and never wither. Now Ting-Ruei operates a YouTube channel ‘lmserious’. He would propagate the industrial safety, which he knows well, and recommend art. In fact, his works are loved among collectors. His art works can be seen in many buildings, public institutions and spaces.
