Without academic training, I still have neither figured out what has brought me into this career; nor explained why I like the works of “Lamps” All I can say is the words from Master Sheng Yen "Lamps can not only brighten others, but also be a family soul" There has been a while in pursuit art creations since I finished my first lamp in 1997. Then, according to the concepts of recycling, I used glass bottles and metal wastes that I picked up occasionally to design something both creative and practical after being brainstormed and then put through cutting, grinding, sand-blasting processes. Surprisingly, these works could not only draw so many positive feedbacks, but win me a Participation award in "2000 miniature wood work competitions", "Masterpiece 4th Hsin-Chu County Artistry Competitions", and "Hsin-Chu award 2000 Hsin-Chu sculpture competition"; The idea of integrating environment protection with creation was simply for self-entertainment during my leisure hours; however, it has become an important part of my life and has grown into a stronger passion deep in my heart. I felt it's totally beyond my imagination while reviewing this road of transformation. After years of being encouraged by friends around art society and art collectors, in 2003, I have established my "Metal sculpture and the decorative lamp workshop". In the past, my favorite method to create art works was combining hard metals with brittle glasses. After establishing my workshop, these materials still remain as my favorites; furthermore, I began to challenge iron for its peculiar texture and extreme hardness. Comparing with copper and aluminum, iron is much more difficult to be formed. In order to present a shape in three dimensions, It needs to be repeatedly punched using different hammers and special techniques. Even though the process of making these art works is so difficult that needs time to develop experience, yet the creation of combining iron with glass has become a unique characteristic of my works. Gathering inspirations for my lamp creations from live plants of the outside world to integrate the natural imageries with entitles and transform the daily commodities into arts, which visitors can enjoy my works in both spiritual and visual ways is always the guidance of my creations. However, an artist does not only need acute observations, but also bas to open one's mind to test different type creations. Above all, the most important part is to insist one's own ideas and just do it without the obscures from transitional conceptions and popular demanding. There is always a living pressure for an art creator to face; however, I am not bothered so much as my material desires are lower than the average. To me, I have made glass and metallurgic creations as my whole career. Fabricating a piece of work from something that is originally nothing but ordinary via brainstorming, rearranging and assembling processes, it is not only a self-affirmation but it also brings me the Joys and fulfillments of physically doing an accomplishment.
